Sovereign OceanKids

At last, a race for the kids.  Kiwi kids love to spend the summer at the beach, so it is wonderful that now they too can participate in ocean swimming - one of New Zealand’s fastest growing sports. The emphasis will be on fun, swim and water safety, and the opportunity to learn new skills.  All kids will receive coaching and training advice from a New Zealand swim team member, and members of Surf Life Saving New Zealand will support every race.  What an event! 

Everyone is a ‘winner’ for completing the event,!

To enter, all kids must 10 years of age or under as at 1 January 2010 and will be capable of swimming 200m competently in a pool.  Entry fee is $20 per child.

What can our kids expect to see and do on the day?

• Get their event pack at registration
• Be in a Sovereign OceanKids group photo with a New Zealand Swim team member
• Participate in the stretch and warm up session and learn some important ocean swimming and safety tips
• Take part in the in the 200m ocean swim – A two-wave start, the first wave being the boys, followed by the girls two minutes later
• Every finisher will receive a certificate at the finish line
• Restore energy with a free Powerade
• Simply – they’ll have a GREAT day
