Posted on 10/01/2010 at 13:24Hi there, I am interested in next weeks Round the Mount Swim and was wondering if anyone has done it before? I've been told because it is tide assisted that even thought it's 4km it is easier and more enjoyable than the Harbour Crossing. I was wondering how long it takes as that is my only gauge of how hard it is. Can anyone please enlighten me??? Thanks |

Posted on 15/01/2010 at 18:47I am from Matamata and am going over on the day. NB: the registration will be at the Mt Maunganui Lifeguard Station, which is on the main beach at the base of the mountain |

Posted on 15/01/2010 at 15:14No I'm from Auckland but grew up in Tauranga so my folks are down there. Actually have family in matamata too. There are a few of us going down the Bay this weekend so we could meet up if you want. But where? We all have yet to register for either swim so could meet you in Pilot Bay where you register on Sunday sometime. Or just txt 0211471726 . Might see you on Sunday. Richelle |

Posted on 15/01/2010 at 09:48If you did it in 1:13 then you beat me. I rechecked the results on ocean swim website and I actually did it in 1:14:10. Having said that the start gun went for our wave went and I (along with lots of others) was only half way out to the start line. I contemplated doing the Bridge to Bridge but have to look after my son on Saturday. Are you from Tauranga? |

Posted on 14/01/2010 at 16:08Heyyyy!! I did the Harbour Crossing in the same time. I probably bumped into you climbing up the stairs :-) I have decided to do the Bridge to Bridge swim on Saturday and see how I feel on Sunday. The hype will probably convince me to go ahead. Might see you there. |

Posted on 14/01/2010 at 14:06I haven't done it either. But I am going to do it. Did a Team Shorebreak swim on 7th Jan in Pilot Bay and can tell you the tide is strong and swift so this will have a massive (beneficial) effect when exiting the harbour. I did the Akld harbour crossing in 1hr 13min, so am a capable swimmer at best. If you completed the Akld harbour crossing you should be ok. Expect the swell (once out of the harbour) to be a bit bigger than Akld though. There is no time limit on this swim (although the organisers reserve the right to add one if conditions dictate). |

Posted on 13/01/2010 at 12:13I haven't done this one, but I found one of the organiser email addresses and they might be able to help with your questions - http://www.enteronline.co.nz/index.cfm?page=EventDetails&ID=4453 - email address on this page. It looks ilke it is starting at 10:30 with prize giving at 1pm, so maybe around 2 hours? |
